About Mary E. Piorun

Background: Mary Piorun, PhD is the Director of the Lamar Soutter Library and the Network of National Library of Medicine, Region 7 at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. Before joining UMass in 1999, Mary was a systems librarian at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Rockville, MD, and served in various other professional and intern positions in libraries in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Mary received her MSLS from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. and a Masters in Business Administration at Bentley College. In May 2008, Mary received the W. Michael Hoffman Prize for Business Ethics from the Bentley College, Center for Business Ethics. In January 2014, Mary completed a PhD in Managerial Leadership at Simmons College. Mary is a member of the Medical Library Association, the American Library Association, and the Association of College and Research Libraries New England Chapter.
