About Jody Bortone


Jody Bortone, OT/L, Ed.D. is Professor Emerita of Occupational Therapy at Sacred Heart University. She was formerly Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs & New Initiatives for the College of Health Professionsand former Chair and Founding Director of the Department of Occupational Therapy. She served as Interim Dean from December 15, 2018, to March 31, 2019 and again Interim Dean of the College of Health Professions from July 2019 until December 2019.
Professor Bortone first came to Sacred Heart University in May 1999. She is a participant in the College’s Administrative Council, which engages in college-wide planning and development. She holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Columbia University, a post professional master’s in occupational therapy from New York University and doctorate of education in education leadership, administration and policy from Fordham University. She is a licensed occupational therapist in New York, Connecticut and South Dakota.
