About James D. Mellick, M.F.A.

Professor Mellick, recipient of Cedarville’s 2012–2013 Faculty Scholar Award, teaches three-dimensional design, sculpture, and printmaking, and he designed the Alford three-dimensional studios. Prior to coming to Cedarville, he taught at Colby-Sawyer College, founded and led the art major program at Houghton College, and headed the sculpture program at Calvin College. He has developed a national reputation as a “Master Ohio Craftsman” with over 160 exhibitions to his credit. His art is in numerous private collections and in many museum, corporate, and academic collections. Professor Mellick is a charter member of the Christians in the Visual Arts and other memberships include Ohio Designer Craftsmen and the Furniture Society. He retired from Cedarville in 2014.
