About Gap-Yong Kim

Gap-Yong Kim is currently an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University. He earned B.S. degree (1997) in Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University and later worked as a Design Engineer at Samick Precision Industry for three years in South Korea. He received M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2006) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Following a postdoctoral fellow at the Wu Manufacturing Research Center, he joined the faculty at Iowa State University in 2007. Kim’s research program focuses on advanced manufacturing technologies involving metal nanocomposites, lightweight composites, energy conversion materials, and nano/micro-manufacturing. He is a recipient of Young Faculty Award from DARPA.
