Dr. Dale Stephenson joined the faculty of the Department of Community and
Environmental Health at Boise State University in 2003. He is responsible for the overall
management and growth of the undergraduate environmental and occupational health academic
program, and directs the Center for Excellence for Environmental Health and Safety. The
Center promotes environmental health and occupational safety in Idaho through technical
assistance, consultation, and outreach. Dr. Stephenson has a Ph.D. in Environmental
Health, with an emphasis in Occupational Health, from Colorado State University. He is
board certified in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene (CIH) by the American
Board of Industrial Hygiene. In addition to his work at Boise State, Dr. Stephenson
serves the community as vice-chairman of the governor-appointed Treasure Valley Air
Quality Council, a council member of the National Environmental Health Science and
Protection Accreditation Council, a member of the crop burning advisory committee of the
Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, and a member of the board of directors of the
Pacific Northwest International Section of the Air & Waste Management Association. 

In 2012, Dr. Stephenson traveled to both Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as
an external reviewer for newly formed undergraduate programs in environmental and
occupational health at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kota Bharu, and Jumeira University in
Dubai. He had also been to the United Arab Emirates in 2010 as chair of a site visit team
performing an accreditation review of undergraduate degrees in global health and
environmental health and safety at Abu Dhabi University.
