Cynthia (Cindy) Schmidt, Curriculum Librarian at Liberty University’s Integrated
Learning Resource Center (ILRC), holds a MS in Education with a School Library Media
Teaching Endorsement. In addition, she holds a BS in History with a Secondary Teaching
License. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media and is currently
pursuing her Ph.D. in Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. Prior to coming to Liberty, Cindy served as a School Librarian and an
Assistant Professor of School Library Media. 

As Curriculum Librarian, Cindy is responsible for the operations of the Curriculum
Library as well as collection development, collection maintenance, and cataloging for the
Curriculum Library which includes the children’s and young adult collections as well as
the curriculum resource materials that support the School of Education. She also serves
as Library Liaison to the School of Education and often provides instruction to Education
and English classes in the location and use of library resources. In addition, she
manages the audio-visual collections and equipment as well as the music collection. 

Cindy’s areas of research interests include school libraries, marketing and public
relations in libraries, professional advocacy, and library 2.0. Her working topic for her
dissertation is Market Orientation of Successful School Librarians.
