About Ann Marie Smeraldi

Ann Marie Smeraldi is the Assistant Director for Public services at the Michael Schwartz Library, Cleveland State University.  Her 22+ years of experience working in education has taught her that libraries play an essential role in student success. As a member of the administrative team, Ann Marie provides leadership and direction for creating a student centered library. She oversees the daily operations of Reference, User Services, and the Digital Design Studio and coordinates the assessment of student learning for the library instruction program. She began her career at CSU in 2008 as the first-year experience librarian providing instruction and support for college freshmen. She continues to serve as the liaison to the university’s first-year experience program and often teaches the first-year orientation course. Before moving into administration, Ann Marie managed teaching and learning services. Her interest include information literacy instruction and assessment with special interest in the needs of first -year college students and undergraduates as they make the transition to higher education.
