Dr Ajay K. Ray is at present Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, University of Western Ontario. He obtained his B. Tech, M. Tech and PhD all in Chemical Engineering from University of Calcutta (India), Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur, India) and University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, USA) respectively. Before joining Western in July 2005, he was at the University of Groningen (Netherlands) for three years and at the National University of Singapore for ten years. His research interests are in engineering of chemical reactions and process, particularly, semiconductor photocatalysis, integrated reactor-separator, oscillatory reactors and the modeling, simulation and multi-objective optimization of industrial chemical processes. He has co-authored a textbook titled “Mathematical methods in chemical and environmental engineering” (Thomson, 2002), one European patents on photocatalytic reactor design, published five book chapters and around 100 research articles in peer reviewed international journals. In 1999, he received the CrayQuest award for excellence in research and development using high performance computing, in 2001 received Distinguished Alumnus award from University of Calcutta (India) and in 2007 received CSMCRI Chemcon Distinguished Speakers Award from Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE). He is a member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Chemical Reactor Engineering, European Journal of Scientific Research and Euro-Asian Journal of Applied Sciences.
