This chapter aims to support educators in critically examining media at the nexus of popular culture, ethnic culture, and diversity. For instance, educators are encouraged to examine deficit perspectives and stereotypes about subjugated ethnic groups that prevail through mass media and social media as a form of public entertainment. More specifically, we point to media representations and narratives that are constructed by educators, administrators, or students, or that target them. Our examples demonstrate how the nexus of popular culture and ethnic culture and media is being realized in school events, classroom projects, and Internet-based postings among educators.
