About Zakir Hossain
Zakir Hossain, Teacher-Librarian, Google Certified Educator, Coursera Mentor and an advocate of school libraries. Zakir awarded his master's degree in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka with first class-first position and completed several certificate courses such as TESOL, Research Methods, eLearning etc. He is passionate about educating children and has taken the term ‘lifelong learner’ quite literally when pursuing ways to enhance his own learning through MOOCs, PLN and in person. As an educator, Zakir's teaching experiences have allowed him to work with students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Through his varied experience in national, regional and international levels, he has gained the ability to adjust his teaching styles and provide accommodations for all of his students regardless of their level of capacity.
As a Teacher Librarian and a Google Certified Educator, topics such as information literacy and ICT are at the forefront of his delivery and he believes librarians are the catalyst for multi-literacy efforts in schools. He has also a resilient and demonstrated expertise in research and academic writing. By building and scaffolding research skills over the years, he is better able to support his students as they take on the challenges of Personal Project, Internal Assessment and Extended Essay.
As an early career researcher, Zakir has published articles in peer-reviewed journals including the renowned UNESCO Journal of Lifelong Learning. His research interests lie in the field of Library, Lifelong Learning and Learning Society; Social Media based non-formal Education, IB School librarianship, Blended Librarianship, Academic Honesty and Non-profit organization's involvement with libraries.
