About Zakir Hossain

Zakir Hossain, Teacher-Librarian, Researcher and an advocate of library based lifelong learning awarded his master's degree in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka (first class-first position). His research interests lie in the field of Lifelong Learning and Learning Society, Non-formal Education, Social and Digital media; IB School librarianship, Academic Honesty, NGO and Non-profit organization's involvement with libraries. Zakir has taken the term ‘life-long learner’ personally, constantly pursuing ways to enhance his own learning through Social Media, MOOCs and in person. His awards and grants include, inaugural Diljit Singh Leadership Development grant, Takeshi Murofushi Research Award 2016 (IASL), the prestigious Anthony Thompson Award-2013 (CILIP,UK) and IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2013 - grants for ASEAN delegates. Mr. Zakir is a life member of Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB), Academic Member of Athens Institute for Education and Research and IFLA/IASL Joint Committee member. He is a progressive thinker and results-oriented person, who wants to effect change and development of education as a lifelong undertaking. Mr. Zakir is a Google certified Internet Search expert. Currently he is working at King Faisal School Riyadh. Prior to KFS, Mr. Zakir worked at EUROPEAN Int' School (EIS) Ho Chi Minh City, as a Teacher-Librarian and Diploma Program Extended Essay Coordinator, Manager of Library and Information Center at the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore International School Vietnam. Personally Zakir is a lover of Internet, travelling and biography books-a geek at heart!
