EXTERIOR SURFACE COLOR: reddish-brown (5YR 5/4); fire clouding on the rim, body, and base

WALL THICKNESS (RIM, BODY, AND BASE IN MM): 6.7 mm, body; 9.3 mm, base

INTERIOR SURFACE TREATMENT: smoothed

EXTERIOR SURFACE TREATMENT: burnished

DECORATION: The rim has an engraved horizontal scroll motif repeated four times on the vessel. The scrolls are divided by excised brackets. The scroll fill zones have either a single excised triangle or an excised negative oval with a central dash or spur in it (cf. Thurmond 1990). A white clay pigment has also been rubbed in the engraved lines.
