Abstract
Tablets present many opportunities to enhance and increase library instruction on college campuses, but it is still unclear if these devices can serve as a one-to-one replacement for a laptop or desktop computer in library database instruction. This study looked at the activities necessary to demonstrate library database features using the web browser application on an iPad and assessed their functionality. Ultimately, actions such as presentation of content, viewing multimedia materials, and using database-specific tools were not a barrier to library database instruction. The ability for students to e-mail themselves the full text of an article appears to be the only major hurdle.
