Abstract
Since the decrease of pH is involved in many pathological and physiological pathways, it serves as an attractive stimulus to trigger the release of a drug/gene delivery system. We report our recent approaches to the design of pH-sensitive and yet biocompatible lipids and liposomes, including lipids with an acid-labile ortho-ester linker and lipids with the trans-2-aminocyclohexanol moiety as a conformational switch of lipid tails.
