About Winston E. Langley

Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Winston E. Langley is the senior administrator in charge of advancing the University of Massachusetts Boston’s academic mission and the quality of its intellectual life. A scholar with a rich, diverse academic background and a seasoned administrator, he has been instrumental in defining and developing UMass Boston’s identity as a student-centered, urban public research university with a teaching soul. A professor of political science and international relations since 1982, Dr. Langley served as director of the International Relations Program, senior associate provost, associate chancellor, and interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs before he was named to his current position in 2009.
