Abstract
The history of the Sparky fishing lures is described from when this lure was first patented in 1938 until the present. Sparky lures were first made in Dixfield, Maine by two brothers, Robert W. Brackett (1916-1986) and George E. "Bud" Brackett (1918-2007). The Brackett brothers were tool and die makers from Massachusetts who owned a camp, and regularly fished, in the Rangeley Lakes region of western Maine. While originally made in Maine, the manufacturing of Sparky lures moved to Massachusetts and eventually to Quebec. This illustrated article also describes the full lines of Sparky lures made by Sparkling Products Company and it's successor, Brecks International of Quebec, Canada.
