Abstract
The article traces the eight decade history of the Lake Auburn Trolling Spoon. First created by Charles H. Morse (1868-1931) in Auburn, Maine, this lure was next made by William "H." Burgess (1886-1967) in Minot, Maine and by the Richard. W. (1897-1969) and John L. (1899-1963) Murray in Auburn. The final maker of this lure was Arthur T. Freer (1883-1971) of Gilbertsville, New York. Because the Lake Auburn Trolling Trolling Spoon was made for such a long time in essentially it's original form, it should be considered a classic lure of the Northeastern U.S.A.
