About William D. Kearns, PhD

William Kearns is a Research Associate Professor in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling in the Department of Child and Family Studies and former faculty of the Department of Aging and Mental Health Disparities. He received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of South Florida in 1989 and was Director of Information Technology for the Florida Mental Health Institute from 1992 to 2003.
His interests include using automation to facilitate improved care for persons with cognitive impairment and using technology to improve access to mental health services and education.
He is Associate Editor of the international journal Gerontechnology. He was USF's Executive Liaison to the Internet2 Project, a consortium of over 200 Carnegie Research I institutions nationwide charged with developing enhanced network services supporting research and education from 1997-2007. He has been a grant reviewer for the National Science Foundation, the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality and the USF Office of Research.
