Abstract

Atlanta real estate attorney Patrick Calhoun, grandson of John C. Calhoun, came to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1890 and established the pace-setting Euclid Heights Allotment, an elite electric-streetcar subdivision on the Portage Escarpment, in the Heights overlooking University Circle, which became a model for the subsequent Shaker Heights community.
