About William Ruefle

Dr. Ruefle received his PhD in political science/public policy from Florida State University. His primary research interest is in the area of crime and public policy. His specific research areas include crime in St. Petersburg, violent crime, gun control policy; drug control policy, juvenile curfew ordinances; and criminal justice program evaluation. He has been awarded research and evaluation grants from the National Institute of Justice and numerous state and local criminal justice agencies. The results of his research have been published in Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Crime and Justice, American Journal of Police and the Children’s Legal Rights Journal. Dr. Ruefle teaches courses in Crime analysis, Crime Prevention, Drugs and Crime; Violence, Guns and Crime; and Survey of Criminal Justice System. Before coming to USF St. Petersburg he was on the faculty of the College of Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina.
