About William Kochen

William Kochen, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at NSU's College of Psychology. Dr. Kochen received his Ph.D. from George Mason University where his dissertation focused on the detrimental effects of chronic stress on Traumatic Brain Injury outcomes and treatments in mice. During his time at George Mason University, he also studied the effect of TBI on temporal processing speeds in clinical populations.

Dr. Kochen’s research at NSU further explores the relationship between environmental effects and Traumatic Brain Injury. Specifically, he is interested in how stress alters the pathology of TBI with the goal of developing a rat model of TBI + stress that is highly translational to the human injury experience. In addition, Dr. Kochen’s research aims to examine the effect of environmental factors on clinical populations who have previously received TBIs.
