Associate Dean for Health Sciences; Associate Professor of Public Health
Wesley D. Rich is responsible for the direct oversight of health sciences programs (Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Public Health) in the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
A native of Bladenboro, North Carolina, Rich is an alumnus of Campbell University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology as well as a Master of Education. He also holds a Master of Arts in Public Health Promotion from East Carolina University and a PhD from North Carolina State University.
Since returning to Campbell in 2007, Rich has served in various leadership roles. As the director of assessment, he was responsible for leading evaluation services for the doctor of pharmacy program and was heavily involved in the College’s ACPE self-study for accreditation in 2009 and 2015. In addition, he has helped lead previous strategic planning efforts, taught and advised both graduate and undergraduate students, and served as interim chair for the Department of Clinical Research, chair of the Department of Public Health, Assistant Dean for Administration and most recently as Associate Dean for Health Sciences. Rich has been instrumental in the development, feasibility, and implementation of new health sciences programs and initiatives at Campbell University. He has published and presented nationally on various topics in health professions education including the assessment of interprofessional education and the impact of the affective domain on professional identity development. Rich teaches core courses in public health related to health behavior/health promotion and is the 2013 recipient of the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
His professional affiliations include the American Public Health Association (APHA), the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Rich is Certified in Public Health (CPH) by the National Board of Public Health Examiners and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. He also serves nationally as an accreditation site reviewer for the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
