Abstract
In many situations, pesticides are the only available or viable choice for pest control. In some instances, however, alternative practices can eliminate or reduce the need for pesticides that are potentially hazardous to humans and the environment. Although restrictions on certain pesticides afford some measure of safety, governmental regulations alone cannot sufficiently minimize these hazards in cases where pesticides appear to be necessary.
