About Wash A. Jones

Wash A. Jones serves numerous roles at his University including Chair of the College Scholarship Committee, Chief Academic Advisor and Director of the CAHS Summer Bridge Program targeting entering freshmen.  His research focuses on enhancing diversity in agriculture.

He is a native of St. Matthews, South Carolina, and resides in Cypress, Texas.  He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, and is a three-time graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station.  His undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees are in agricultural journalism, educational administration and agricultural education, respectively.

He loves life, loves to laugh, and loves to learn.  His favorite movie of all times is The Lion King, which provides him the opportunity to laugh and to learn.  He is the self-appointed President and CEO of the Lion King Fan Club.  His goal in life is to help somebody each day.   He is a member of St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church in Brenham, Texas, where he serves as Minister of Music, a trustee, Scholarship Committee Chair and editor of the church newsletter.  His hero in life is his mother, whom he says is the wind beneath his wings.
