About Waqas Ghumman, MD, FACC

Dr. Ghumman was the executive cardiovascular disease management director and director of heart failure for Community Health Network, co-director of the cardiovascular genetics program at CHVH, and Associate Medical Director for cardiovascular services for Community Home Health. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease, advanced heart failure and heart transplantation. Dr. Ghumman also specializes in congestive heart failure, cardiac imaging, and left ventricular assist devices ( LVADs). He has special interests in pulmonary hypertension, HTN and preventive cardiovascular medicine as well. He has published extensively in cardiac imaging with the founder of echocardiography Dr. Harvey Feigenbaum and was instrumental in developing the echocardiography curriculum at Indiana University with Dr. Feigenbaum. He has published extensively with regards to LVADs for Destination Therapy including the landmark Heartmate 2 DT study in the New England Journal of Medicine.

He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Krannert Institute of Cardiology at Indiana University in Indianapolis. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He also holds a bachelor of science in biology from Indiana University. Dr. Ghumman has been named an Indianapolis Monthly Top Doctor in cardiology for multiple years. Dr. Ghumman is a member of American Heart Association; American College of Cardiovascular Medicine; International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant; and Heart Failure Society of America. Dr. Ghumman is a former Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Indiana University where he received numerous teaching awards from IU School of Medicine (including Board of Trustees Teaching Award). He continues to educate and train physicians, nurses and support staff and has won multiple teaching awards from post graduate training programs in medicine.
