According to the 2018 U.S. News Best Colleges rankings, Andrews University is one of the three most ethnically diverse universities in the United States. A keen observer will notice that religious diversity is also growing on our campus. Non-Adventists students come from many other Christian denominations as well as non-Christian religions. In this session, the co-presenters will share their experiences of approaching this growing religious diversity at Andrews as an opportunity for being salt and light in the world. Our goal is to share basic strategies for creating welcoming spaces for our non-Adventists students.
Boubakar Sanou is an Assistant Professor of Mission and Leadership at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, Andrews University. He served as a pastor for twelve years before coming to Andrews University. His research interest is in studying the impact of culture on leadership behaviors and practices and how all these influence Christian witness.
Andrew Tompkins worked in India in various capacities that included school teacher, church pastor and planter, lay minister trainer, and Associate Director of the Global Mission Center for South Asian Religions at Spicer Adventist University. He recently became Assistant Professor of Mission and Intercultural Theology at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. Andrew is married to Anuradha and has two sons Abishek and Andre.
