Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to present the findings of a qualitative meta-synthesis of literature that was conducted to understand how culture-based conceptions of leadership are integrated with the literature on leadership preparation. This chapter identifies problematics developing in this literature base that impede the cohesion, urgency, and momentum in the research and preparation of leaders who exemplify culture-based approaches in their practice. A recommendations for critical multicultural/social justice leadership and research is offered in order to bridge what risks developing into two separate strands of research: social justice leadership and culture-based leadership.
