OTTAWA, Nov. 11, 2011 /CNW/ - Today the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada recognized and celebrated the service of all military men and women, including Fellows who have served in military conflicts, during the 2011 National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa, Ont.

Major Vivian Charles McAlister, MB, FRCSC, laid a ceremonial wreath at the National War Memorial during Canada's largest remembrance event. A general surgeon with expertise in combat surgery, Dr. McAlister has delivered treatment to soldiers and civilians throughout Canada and abroad. He has deployed three times to Afghanistan and once to Haiti, where he worked in the Canadian Field Hospital.

The Royal College honours a long legacy of service in military conflicts, including World Wars I and II, Korea and Afghanistan. The organization is deeply proud of its many members who have or are currently sacrificing their time, energy and personal safety for their country. We are all indebted to the service of these Fellows.
