About Vijay Kalaria, MD, FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Kalaria is a comprehensively trained Cardiovascular Specialist. He comes to Fort Worth from Indianapolis, Indiana, where he most recently served as a Director of Vascular Medicine and Intervention program, and Associate Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and Interventional Cardiology program at Clarian Cardiovascular Center. Dr. Kalaria also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Indiana University, where he had a rare distinction of receiving both "Teacher of the Year" award and "Best Young Clinician" Award.

Dr. Kalaria's professional interests include Adult Congenital Heart disease (Atrial Septal Defect Closure), Complex Coronary Interventions, Carotid Artery Stent with Distal Embolization Protection, Percutaneous Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) closure, Percutaneous Alcohol Septal Ablation (Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy), and Vascular Medicine and Intervention (Arterial and Venous including inferior vena cava filter placement).

He brings a wealth of clinical expertise and experience to Fort Worth medical community. He is actively involved in many national and international clinical trials testing innovative therapies in coronary and peripheral vascular disease and gives research and invited clinical talks at national scientific meetings. He is a fellow of American College of Cardiology and Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions. With the highest achievable training in non-invasive cardiology (Level III in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology), interventional cardiology (dedicated two-year clinical fellowship), and vascular medicine (fellowship with board certification), Dr. Kalaria brings a unique perspective to management of complex coronary and vascular patients. He believes in formulating a personalized diagnostic and therapeutic plan for patients with global cardiovascular disease, and compassionate delivery of cutting-edge therapies.
