Abstract
Five letters from the John Little Lobdell family, written between 1863 and 1865. They had refugeed from West Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Natchitoches, Louisiana, and from there to Canton (now Omen) in southeastern Smith County. These letters describe the Omen area, late war activities, visits from old neighbors, and the negotiations with freedmen who also wanted to return to Louisiana after the war.
