Abstract
On October 18, 1996, Northwest coalition Against Malicious Harassment held its Second Annual Symposium. This is the written culmination of those commentaries and their responses. It explores the impact of the American far-right at the county and state levels utilizing a broad range of issues and examples. In their insightful and eloquent presentations, some of the nation's top civil rights activists contribute their views on how the issues have developed and evolved. Citing events in the current news headlines, the presenters illustrate how the far right has redefined its position and incorporated it into the mainstream political arena. Through this kind of critical analysis, those involved in the struggle for human rights will be able to delve beyond right-wing rhetoric and continue to fight for social justice in America
