About Venkatesh Shanbhag

Dr. Shanbhag, Professor of Chemistry at Nova Southeastern University, received a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Bombay, a M.Sc. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. He teaches chemistry courses (Introductory, General, Organic, and upper division) to students pursuing their career in health professions. He has served on numerous departmental, division, college and university committees at NSU. He is a member of the American Chemical Society since 1986, and has served the ACS in varied capacities:in the division Chemical Education (meeting chair for two of the Chemical Education Division’s Programming: Orlando 2002 and Washington, DC 2005, International activities, and Exams Institute) and in the South Florida local Section, SoFLACS (webmaster, communications coordinator, alternate councilor, chair, National Chemistry Olympiad coordinator). He co-organized the annual Forensic Conference series at NSU (2003-2007). He is involved in high school outreach activities through the National Chemistry Olympiad, National Chemistry Week and teacher workshops.  He has mentored two graduate students and over 25 undergraduate students in research resulting in over fifteen research posters.
