About Uba Backonja

Uba Backonja, PhD RN, is a Assistant Professor in Nursing and Healthcare Leadership at the University of Washington Tacoma. She obtained a BS in Biological Anthropology and a BS, MS, and PhD in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She conducted her dissertation reserach at the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development through an intramural Graduate Partnership Program fellowship from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Nursing Research. She completed National Library of Medicine Biomedical Informatics Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education at the University of Washington School of Medicine where she focused on data visualizations for informatics tools.
