About Trevor A Cullen

Associate Professor Trevor Cullen runs the Journalism program at Edith Cowan University. He has won both university and national teaching awards and also two national research grants (ARC and OLT).
His main research is on media coverage of infectious diseases with a special focus on HIV. Prof Cullen is a member of the International AIDS Society (IAS), and he has been described as one of the top researchers in Australia on media and HIV. He conducts workshops in Asia and the Pacific on reporting HIV and he is a frequent speaker at international AIDS conferences.
Prof Cullen's second field of research is health reporting and health communications, and he runs short courses on health communications, most recently at the Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing. He has led United Nations, AusAid, Commonwealth Press Union and South Pacific Community sponsored workshops on Health reporting in Asia and the Pacific region. Prof Cullen has supervised Masters and Doctoral students on a wide range of media and health topics.
