About Tracy J. Andrews

Dr. Andrews received her B.A. in Anthropology from Portland State University, her PhD from the University of Arizona (Anthropology), and her Masters of Public Health from Columbia University. She has worked as a sociocultural anthropologist in professional and academic settings, and recently returned to Portland where she has joined PSU as an Adjunct Professor. Her collaborative work with Native American nations since 1980 has focused on environmental and natural resource issues, health and healing, cultural dynamics and continuity, and gender. More recently she also applied her concern for minority and international health issues to cooperative projects with regional Hispanic community organizations in central Washington state. This work focused on gender, immigration, and health, including undocumented Mexican immigrant women and children. While a Professor at Central Washington University, she also spent 3 ½ months teaching at Anhui University in Hefei, China.
