About Travis McNeal, Ph.D.

Dr. Travis McNeal has worked as a licensed clinical psychologist since 2000.  He has been licensed to practice psychology in both Tennessee and Arkansas.  He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Mississippi, which was followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in forensic psychology at the University of Virginia. 
 
He began his career at Memphis Mental Health Institute, where he served as the Director of Forensic Services.  He spent most of his time there conducting psychological evaluations of criminal defendants.  He often served as an expert witness, primarily testifying regarding trial competence and the insanity defense. 
 
From 2004 - 2009, he worked at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, where his primary roles were conducting psychological evaluations of law enforcement officers and officer candidates and training law enforcement officers.  Additionally, he is a graduate of the State of Tennessee Basic Police School, and he has been certified by both Tennessee and Arkansas as a law enforcement instructor. 
 
Since 2009, he has taught in the Behavioral Sciences Department at Harding University.  He has taught courses in General Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Psychology of Personality, Social Psychology, Data Analysis, Criminology, and Forensic Psychology.  Since 2016, he has served as the Director of the Psychology Program at Harding. 
 
Since 2012, he also has served as the Director of Camp Tahkodah, a summer camp owned and operated by Harding.
 
He is married to Meleah, who he met in his Christian Home Bible class at Harding, and they have two children, Parker and Kate.
