The University of Maine submitted this proposal to DARPA in response to BAA 93-44, Maritime Platform Technologies. A synergistic interdisciplinary research team sharing a common vision for an innovative dual use concept addressing the military subject of Offshore bases was assembled; it also addressed a parallel application for the emerging offshore aquaculture industry in the United States. The responsibility for the development of a dynamic wave tank test facility on campus was also included in this research.
