About Tim Perkins

Tim took up a full time lecturing position at The University of Notre Dame Australia in 2010. Tim has a Masters of Education from UTS in Education for Social Change, a Bachelor of Education from Southern Cross University and a Diploma of Teaching from the Catholic College of Education, North Sydney. He is currently working on his PhD, exploring the role of mentoring in alleviating maths anxiety in pre-service primary teachers. Tim is a highly experienced primary school teacher having taught for more than 15 years in independent, mainstream and alternative schools both in Australia and England.

Tim's main areas of interest are Philosophy of Education, Mathematics Education and Social Justice. He is part of a University team which has forged a strong relationship between the UNDA Australia and the Aberdare Ranges Primary School in Kenya. Tim has led trips for students from the Schools of Education and Medicine to volunteer in Kenya in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and hopes to continue to do so into the future. The team he leads have received a Vice Chancellor’s Award and an Office of Learning and Teaching Citation for their work in Kenya.
