Abstract

A probability-possibility transformation is a purely mechanical transformation of probabilistic support to possibilistic support and vice versa. That is, a conversion of the measure of support of one theory into that of the other that is independent of the problem domain. In this paper it is shown that any bijective mapping between probability distributions and normalized possibility distributions that is symmetric and expansible cannot preserve the properties of projection, noninteraction, or conditionalization.
