Abstract

Compatibility modification inference alters the consequent of a rule based on the compatibility of the antecedent with the input. Classically, set theoretic measures are used to assess the compatibility. Geometric plausible inference employs the dissemblance index to produce a metric compatibility measure. This type of inference utilizes graduality of nearness. Two approaches to geometric plausible inference are described and compared with other inference techniques using graduality.
