About Thomas Webler

My scholarship focuses on bringing local and expert knowledge together in collaborative, democratic ways to produce innovative solutions to controversial problems of collective action.  I am particularly interested in civic dialogue about problems of energy, sustainability, and climate change.  At present, I am a full-time faculty member in the Department of Environmental Studies at Western Washington University.  My undergraduate education was in Electrical Engineering.  I also have a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies from Clark University.  For two years I did post-doctoral research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.  I have been a Fellow of the Breuninger Foundation at the University of Stuttgart on the topic of cooperation and a Fulbright Scholar at Pondicherry University in India on the topic of biodiversity conservation.
