Professor Shields joined the LMU Law School in 2021 to teach civil procedure and business law courses following ten (10) years of service as General Counsel to a privately held, multi-state, conglomerate headquartered in Cumberland County, Tennessee. Before moving in-house, Professor Shields had a busy commercial, corporate, and employment law practice that afforded him the opportunity to appear in court in 90 of Tennessee’s 95 counties. He holds degrees from the University of Tennessee (B.A. 2002) and the University of Mississippi School of Law (J.D. 2004). Professor Shields is particularly interested in supplying Tennessee’s underserved rural communities with skilled practitioners.
