Abstract
This textbook seeks to introduce and elaborate on a few of the variety of significant topics in the child welfare field, including substance use and mental health, teenage parenting, and military families.  This book can be used as a starting point for broadening one’s horizons in this specialization.  It offers a global perspective to help professionals find and create better solutions and further advancements for the challenges presented in social work.  Furthermore, self-care, a topic often discussed with clients, is discussed from a social worker's perspective, to explore ways to prevent burn-out.
