About Dr. Tae-Young Kim (김태영, 金兌英)

Hi, friends and colleagues around the world! Welcome to my academic work website. After earning B.A. (1997) and M.A. (2002) in English language education at Seoul National University and Ph.D. (2007) in Second Language Education at OISE/University of Toronto, I have worked in the Department of English Education at Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea from 2008. I have been involved in various second/foreign language (L2) learner/teacher factor research such as L2 learning/teaching (de)motivation, learner beliefs, learner identities, etc. Most of my works are based on Vygotsky's sociocultural theory of mind framework with specific reference to activity theory. Recently, I'm trying to use mixed methods which include both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. You can read my recent newspaper (The Korea Herald) interview by clicking Link at the bottom of this page. Happy browsing!
