Performance Factors of the Bucket Wheel Excavator Systems
Preprint - Society of Mining Engineers of AIME

Abstract

Increasing interest in the Bucket Wheel Excavator (BWE) technology calls for a universally understandable definition of suitable performance factors. Publications have appeared on BWE performance factors. Their definitions and calculation differ from those used traditionally in North America. The question is if it is really necessary to change the existing definitions and related terminology as applied to BWE technology. The authors elaborate on this subject. Relations between system parameters and site-specific conditions on one side, and system performance factors on the other, are shown.
