Abstract

Healthcare quality and safety has taken great leaps in the past decade. Major stakeholders have set quality in health care as a priority in the fight for safe and quality patient care provision. Whether you practice in primary care, acute care, or in the community, quality measures are those benchmark criteria that set the standards for not only patient care but also for accreditation and payment. Gone are the days when quality was measured in days of stay or episodes of care. Quality care is a direct reflection of the patient-centered model of care, and patient outcomes are at the top of the list when it comes to validating or verifying the provision of care and overall prevention of illness
