About Suzanne Schmidt

Suzanne Schmidt is an adjunct professor in the Communication department; Justice, Community & Leadership; Women's and Gender Studies and Ethnic Studies and has also facilitated writing circles in the Center for Writing Across the Curriculum. She received her Masters and Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Washington where she taught literature, composition, interdisciplinary writing and ethnic studies. Her research examines contemporary do-it-yourself crafting narratives and the role of crafting labors in domestic fiction and multi-ethnic American literature.
Suzanne is the Director of Pedagogy for the Social Justice Sewing Academy and was a 2016-17 Citizenship fellow at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
