Narratives of slavery and freedom, 19th-century Literary & Cultural Studies and the Print Cultures of a Diverse America are my primary fields of specialization. I additionally concern myself with issues of Pedagogy, Grants, Book and Periodical Culture, African American Intellectual history, South Carolina authors, and theories of biography.
