About Susan Martin

After serving as an elementary classroom teacher in California and Oregon, and an English Language Teacher Trainer and E.S.L. Teacher with the Peace Corps in the Philippines, Dr. Susan Martin earned her Ph.D. at the University of Washington in Seattle. Her dissertation was entitled "Fostering Students’ Participation in Writing Activity in Three Urban Classrooms". She taught for one year at Western Washington University in Bellingham before coming to Boise State University in 2003 as a faculty member of the Department of Literacy, Language and Culture in the College of Education. In addition to teaching and mentoring students, Dr. Martin writes and presents widely on a variety of topics including elementary writing and reading instruction, music, assessment, becoming a teacher, and school/University partnerships.
