Abstract

In 2019, Professors Catherine Porter (heriot-Watt University) and Danila Serra (Texas A&M) published a study titled "Gender Difference in the Choice of Major: The Importance of Female Role Models/" The goal of the study was to uncover ways to increase the percentage of women majoring in economics, a generally male-dominated field. The study ended up providing some profound insights into the impact of role models on young women's educational and career choices.
